Art Nouveau

Alphonse Mucha defined the visual language of Art Nouveau with his theatrical posters for Sarah Bernhardt and sinuous decorative panels of women entwined in flowers and flowing hair. His pattern books, including Documents Décoratifs, became a design bible for a generation of European illustrators and remain instantly recognisable today.
